We all need healing
Who are we?
The Institute of Healing of Memories has its roots in the turbulent era of apartheid, a time marked by profound suffering and injustice. Founded in 1998 by Father Michael Lapsley, our organization was born from a deep need to address the emotional and psychological wounds inflicted by this oppressive system.
His personal experience of trauma and his unwavering commitment to justice inspired him to create a space where others could begin their own journeys of healing. This vision led to the founding of the Institute of Healing of Memories.
From its inception, the Institute has been dedicated to healing the psychological and emotional scars left by apartheid and other forms of violence and oppression. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals and communities can share their stories, confront their pain, and work towards reconciliation.
